Getting Started with Trezor Hardware Wallet

The original and most trusted hardware wallet for securing your cryptocurrency assets

Security First: Always ensure you're visiting the official Trezor website (trezor.io) and never share your recovery seed with anyone.

Getting Started with Your Trezor Device

1

Unbox and Connect

Carefully unbox your Trezor device. You should find:

  • Trezor hardware wallet
  • USB cable
  • Recovery seed cards
  • Lanyard and stickers

Connect your Trezor to your computer using the provided USB cable. For mobile setup, you'll need a compatible OTG adapter.

2

Install Trezor Suite

Download and install Trezor Suite, the official desktop application for managing your Trezor device.

Trezor Suite provides a secure environment for all your cryptocurrency operations and is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Alternatively, you can use the web-based version at suite.trezor.io, but the desktop app offers enhanced security features.

3

Initialize Your Device

When you first connect your Trezor, you'll be guided through the initialization process:

  • Install the latest firmware
  • Create a new wallet or recover an existing one
  • Set up a PIN for device protection

Follow the on-screen instructions in Trezor Suite carefully during this process.

4

Backup Your Recovery Seed

This is the most critical security step. Your recovery seed is a list of words that can restore access to your cryptocurrencies if your Trezor is lost, stolen, or damaged.

Your Trezor will generate a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed. Write these words down in the exact order on your recovery seed card.

Never store your recovery seed digitally (no photos, cloud storage, or text files). Keep it in a safe, secure location.
